When
looking for books, you should check first whether Roosevelt owns a copy. If
Roosevelt does not own the book, check whether it is available in any of the
64 other I-Share libraries. In the rare instance that a book is not located
in any I-Share library, you can search the Statewide Illinois Library
Catalog (SILC) to locate books in academic and public libraries near you. If
you still cannot locate the book, contact us and we will do our best to
locate it for you.
Options
for obtaining books differ depending on where you live:
If
you can visit Roosevelt's Chicago Campus or Schaumburg Campus

If you plan to come to one of the
Roosevelt campuses to pick up your books, you can use the online
Request feature of the I-Share catalog prior to your arrival.

Search
Roosevelt's online catalog from on or off campus to
identify the Roosevelt books that you would like to check
out.

When you have located a book
that you would like to check out, click Request in the menu
bar at the top of the screen.

Type in your Library
Borrower ID, which is the
14-digit number above the barcode on your student ID.

Type in your last name.
-
Click the Login
button.
-
Click the OK
button to request the first available copy.

Type in your Library
Borrower ID again.
-
Click Submit Request.

You should then get a message
letting you know that your request was successful.

Don't forget to click
Logout to exit your account.

If you request a book from
the Roosevelt collection, it will be pulled from the shelves
and held for you at the Roosevelt library that you designate
as your pick-up location. Delivery times between campuses
generally take 2-3 business days.

- If you cannot find your book in the Roosevelt collection,
you can also request books from any of the
64 other
I-Share libraries and they will be delivered to the
Roosevelt library that you designate as your pick-up location.

- Search the
I-Share catalog to identify the books that you would
like to check out.
- When you have located a book that you would like to
check out, click Request in the menu bar at the top
of the screen.
- Click the drop-down menu to change your Home Library
to Roosevelt University. This step is important.
- Type in your Library Borrower ID, which is the
14-digit number above the barcode on your student ID.
- Type in your last name.
- Click the Login button.
- Click the OK button to request the first
available copy.
- Type in your Library Borrower ID again.
- Change the Pick-up Library to Roosevelt
University. This step is important.
Change the Pick-up Desk or Office to Chicago Circ
Desk if you will pick up the book downtown or
Schaumburg Circ Desk if you will pick the book up in
Schaumburg.
- Click Submit Request.

- Delivery time is generally 7-10 business days.

If you can
visit any of the other 64 I-Share libraries:
- Your current, validated Roosevelt ID card can be used to
check out books at any of the
64
academic libraries in the I-Share consortium. You can check
out books directly from these libraries, or request to have
books from other I-Share libraries, including Roosevelt books,
sent to be picked up at the I-Share library nearest your home.

- Enter the number found on your Roosevelt University I.D. card
above the barcode into the authentication box. The number starts with
23311 followed by your 9-digit I.D. number (e.g., 23311#########).
- After entering a search and identifying an interesting title,
click on Libraries Worldwide and you will see a list of
libraries in Illinois that own each book.
- You may have borrowing privileges at some of these libraries, such
as a local public or community college library. Contact these
libraries directly to see if they will allow you to check out books.
- You may also contact your own public library, and they may be able
to request the book for you.

state of Illinois:
- Click the above link to enter WorldCat/SILC.
- Enter the number found on your Roosevelt University I.D. card
above the barcode into the authentication box. The number starts with
23311 followed by your 9-digit I.D. number (e.g., 23311#########).
- After entering a search and identifying an interesting title,
click on Libraries Worldwide and then click the Display All
Libraries link on the top left corner of the list. Illinois
libraries will be displayed first, and after that libraries from all
50 states that own the book will be listed alphabetically. Clicking
the link to any of these libraries will take you to the catalog for
that library.
- You may have borrowing privileges at some of these libraries, such
as a local public or community college library. Contact these
libraries directly to see if they will allow you to check out books.
- You may also contact your own public library, and they may be able
to request the book for you.

Accessing electronic books:
- Click here to create a NetLibrary account.
- Enter the number found on your Roosevelt University I.D.
card above the barcode into the authentication box. The number
starts with 23311 followed by your 9-digit I.D. number (e.g.,
23311#########).
- Then click on Create a Free Account in the upper right hand
corner of the web page.
- After the account has been created, the e-books can be
accessed from any location by visiting
http://www.netlibrary.com
